About Charing Cross station
Charing Cross sits on the Strand, a few steps from Trafalgar Square. Southeastern trains run from here to Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Hastings, Ashford and other parts of Kent, calling at Waterloo East and London Bridge. It is also one of the most central stations in London, surrounded by theatres, galleries and restaurants.
Theatre nights and evenings out

How we get there
Drivers usually take the A3 through Tolworth and Wandsworth, head towards Vauxhall and then follow the Albert Embankment or Millbank along the river to the Embankment and the Strand. Typically it takes 45 to 60 minutes outside rush hour. Evening traffic in the West End can be heavy before shows, so we plan pickups accordingly.

Meeting you off the train
If you are returning from Kent, give us your train time. Your driver will meet you at an agreed point outside the station. If your train is delayed, call us and we will adjust. The same applies if you are collecting a visitor. Give us their name and train and we will bring them back to Chessington.
Galleries and Trafalgar Square
Charing Cross is the nearest station to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, both on Trafalgar Square. Families visiting the galleries or the square often prefer a taxi, which avoids a train and a Tube change with children. We can drop you on the Strand and collect you later at a time that suits you. Embankment and the river are just below the station, which is a pleasant place to walk before your ride home.
Travelling to Kent
Some customers ask whether they should take the train from Charing Cross or travel by car all the way to Kent. For towns such as Tunbridge Wells or Sevenoaks, the train is usually quicker once you are in central London.
