When a taxi to Waterloo makes sense
Chessington North and Chessington South stations have direct South Western Railway trains to Waterloo, and for a normal commute that works well. A taxi is better in other situations: when you have suitcases for a holiday from Southampton, when you are travelling with young children, or when you finish a night out in the West End after the last train has gone.
Waterloo is also the London terminus for trains to Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Weymouth, Salisbury and Exeter. If you are catching one of those with bags, a car to the station saves carrying them through several changes.
Late-night pickups from Waterloo
The most common reason people call us for Waterloo is getting home late. After a show or a dinner on the South Bank, a train home can involve waits and changes, and the last trains to Chessington leave earlier than many people expect. Book a pickup time in advance, or call us on the night. We run 24/7.
Your driver will meet you at an agreed point near the station and take you straight home to Chessington, Hook or Tolworth.
Route and journey time
The drive usually follows the A3 through Tolworth and Wandsworth, then heads towards Vauxhall and along the river to Waterloo. Typically it takes 40 to 55 minutes outside rush hour. Late at night it can be faster.
Waterloo is inside central London's Congestion Charge zone, which applies at certain times. Ask us when you book and we will confirm what your fixed fare includes.
Cruise passengers and the south coast
Many people travelling to Southampton for a cruise take the train from Waterloo. If you would rather go by road all the way, give us a call for a quote. Otherwise, we are happy to take you and your luggage to Waterloo and help you onto the concourse.
The South Bank and London Eye
Waterloo is the gateway to the South Bank, with the London Eye, the Southbank Centre, the National Theatre and the Old Vic all close by. Many of our customers book a car there for an afternoon or evening out, then a pickup home after the show. Traffic around the South Bank can be busy at the end of the evening, so we agree a clear meeting point in advance and keep in touch by phone.
Arriving at Waterloo with luggage
Visitors arriving at Waterloo from Southampton, Portsmouth or the south west often have large bags. Rather than carrying them on to Chessington by local train, book a car to meet you. Give us the train time and a mobile number, and your driver will contact you when they arrive. We will take you door to door, to your home or hotel.
