Why booking a pet friendly car matters
Many private hire drivers will not take animals unless they know in advance. Some have allergies, some drive cars that are not suited to a large dog, and nobody wants a wasted journey at the kerb. When you tell us about your pet at the time of booking, we match you with a driver and vehicle that can take them, so the trip starts calmly.
It also means we can plan the right space. A cat in a carrier fits on a back seat with a seat belt around it. A Labrador or a Retriever travels far better in an estate car, where there is room to lie down.
Common journeys with pets
- Vet appointments, including follow-up visits after an operation when your pet needs a smooth ride home.
- Emergency vet trips at night. Our phone line is open 24/7, so call us if you need to get to an out-of-hours vet quickly.
- Kennels and catteries before a holiday, often combined with your own run to the airport.
- Groomers and dog day care, on a single booking or a regular weekly slot.
- Moving house or visiting family with your pet, including longer journeys outside London.

What we ask when you travel with an animal
To keep every journey safe and fair for the next passenger, we ask owners to follow a few simple rules. Cats, rabbits and other small animals should travel in a secure carrier. Dogs should be on a lead and under control, or in a travel crate if they are anxious travellers. Please bring a blanket or towel for the seat or boot, especially after a muddy walk on Horton Country Park or Epsom Common.
If your pet is unwell or might be sick on the way, just tell us. The driver can take the route gently and stop if needed. We would always rather know in advance than be surprised.
Choosing the right vehicle for your pet
For most cats and small dogs, a standard saloon is fine. For medium and large dogs we suggest an estate, which gives a flat space in the back. If you are travelling with the whole family and the dog, a 6 seater taxi leaves room for people, pet and bags together.
Assistance dogs are always welcome, and you do not need to pay anything extra for them. It still helps if you mention them when booking so we can plan the space.
